Who We Are

The OneCranston Health Equity Zone (HEZ), one of 15 HEZs in Rhode Island, is a resident-driven initiative funded by the Rhode Island Department of Health, with Comprehensive Community Action Program (CCAP) as our backbone agency. Our goal is to support and equip Cranston community members to collaborate and create projects, places, and programming where residents can healthily live, learn, work, and play.

Health equity means everyone has an equal opportunity to lead a healthy life. This requires removing obstacles to health such as poverty, discrimination, racism, and their consequences, including powerlessness and insufficient access to good jobs with fair pay, quality education and housing, safe environments, and healthcare.

Our five main initiatives work to do just that. With Cranston community members and local organizations driving our work, focused on areas such as physical health, trauma, and youth opportunity, we can address needs within the community and improve health outcomes.

Advocate and collaborate for policies, programs, and mindset that will create a healthier and more equitable Cranston.
